Yamaha issues recall notice for MT09, MT09SP and Tracer900GT models
As of the 1st March 2022 Yamaha has issued a recall notice for 3 models of MT09, the MT09, MT09Sp and Tracer900 GT due to an improper ECU setup that could cause the engine to stall.
The notice states:
1. Due to improper programming of the engine control unit, when the clutch lever is held with the throttle closed during deceleration, if the clutch lever grip is small, the air mixture inhaled into the combustion chamber may become thin. This could cause the engine to stall in the worst case scenario.
2. Due to improper programming of the engine control unit, opening the throttle slightly from an idling state may result in a thinner air mixture being inhaled into the combustion chamber. This could cause the engine to stall in the worst case scenario.
3. Due to improper programming of the engine control unit, the current to the motor that rotates the throttle body valve may be cut off and the engine warning light may illuminate. In the worst case, the throttle body valves may become inoperable and the vehicle may not be able to perform.
4. The engine warning light does not illuminate in the event of a component or system failure due to improper programming of the engine control unit. Therefore, it does not conform to Article 31, Attachment 115 (Technical standards for on-board diagnostic monitoring devices) of the Safety Standards.
